After Last Year’s Slump, East Burke Sees Eastern Township Traffic Bounce Back on Vermont Trails

BURKE, Vt., July 2026 — Kingdom Trails and Burke Mountain Resort have launched a month-long campaign aimed at welcoming Eastern Townshippers back to Vermont after a decline in cross-border tourism last year.

The Cross the Border, Discover the Kingdom initiative offers Eastern Township visitors at-par pricing on Kingdom Trails memberships and Burke Mountain lift tickets, along with discounts on bike rentals, hotel stays, and promotions from participating local businesses throughout the Northeast Kingdom.

Georgia Gould, executive director of Kingdom Trails, said Canadian visitation has begun to recover this summer after a significant drop in 2025. She said the campaign was created to reassure Eastern Township riders and families that they remain welcome despite ongoing concerns surrounding tariffs, exchange rates, and border policy.

The initiative also highlights recent investments in the region, including new trails at Kingdom Trails, updates to Burke Mountain’s bike park, and expanded e-bike rental options.

Gould said the campaign reflects a broader community effort, with local businesses working together to strengthen long-standing ties between the Northeast Kingdom and neighbouring Canadian communities.
