Saint-François, September 8th – Québec solidaire candidate Mia Fréchette is focusing her Saint-François campaign on housing, the cost of living, health care, transportation and environmental protection.

Fréchette said she began speaking with residents after being nominated in June and July to identify their main concerns. She said housing, affordability and health care were among the issues raised most frequently, shaping the party’s campaign communications.

On housing, Fréchette pointed to Québec solidaire’s recently announced housing plan, which includes a proposal to limit rent increases to inflation and create 50,000 social housing units. She said the plan would involve building 25,000 new units and converting another 25,000 existing housing spaces.

Fréchette also identified public transit as a priority, particularly for residents without access to a vehicle. She said further measures addressing gaps in public transportation would be announced during the campaign.

Environmental protection is another focus. Fréchette said Québec solidaire plans to set targets for land conservation, climate adaptation and greenhouse gas reductions.

She also highlighted the needs of English-speaking communities in the Eastern Townships, saying she wants to improve access to services and opportunities while bringing a regional perspective to discussions surrounding the province’s Anglophone population.
