Townshippers’ Festival celebrates Community and Celebration in Bury

BURY, September 22, 2026 — Residents from across the Eastern Townships gathered in Bury for the 2026 Townshippers’ Festival, celebrating the region’s English-speaking community and its connections to local culture and heritage.

Hosted by the Municipality of Bury, the event brought together longtime residents, newcomers, families and seniors. More than 50 kiosks provided information about local services, organizations and businesses, giving attendees opportunities to connect with community groups and learn more about resources available across the region.

Townshippers’ Association President Melanie Thompson said the festival highlighted the relationships and shared experiences that help build strong communities.

Executive Director Denis Kotsoros described the event as an opportunity to bring the Association’s partnerships directly into communities, while emphasizing the importance of participation in the region’s economic, educational and cultural life.

The festival also featured Heritage Family Day activities through a partnership with the Bury United Cultural Centre, highlighting local history and heritage. A special performance was presented by Bury artist Chloé Fortier, known as N0rth and the recipient of the Association’s 2025 Young Townships Leader Award.

Townshippers’ Festival will return next September, with the 2027 host municipality to be announced in the coming months.
