SHERBROOKE, July 6, 2026 — A dramatic runaway semi-truck incident left one person injured and blocked traffic in a Sherbrooke neighborhood Monday morning.

Emergency services responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls around 8:30 a.m. on July 6, reporting that a tractor-trailer had collided with several vehicles near the intersection of Argyll and Longchamps streets. Callers also reported seeing a man with a head injury at the scene.

According to initial police findings, the truck unexpectedly began rolling down a hill while the driver was standing on its rear platform. The driverless semi-truck continued down the slope, striking three vehicles along its path.

Paramedics treated the truck driver on-site for head injuries sustained while he was outside the vehicle. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries have been reported.

Sherbrooke police and firefighters secured the scene, and an investigation into the exact cause of the incident is ongoing.

Argyll Street remains closed to traffic in the area, with police officers on-site redirecting motorists. Drivers are advised to avoid the sector and expect delays.
