First Babies of 2025 Welcomed in the Eastern Townships

January 5, 2025 – The Eastern Townships joyfully welcomed its first babies of 2025, with proud parents celebrating the arrival of their little ones in hospitals across the area.

Hôpital Fleurimont

The title of the first baby born in Estrie goes to Mazikeen Tougas, who made her debut at 3:49 AM on January 1, 2025, at Hôpital Fleurimont. She weighs 1.115 kilograms, marking her as a tiny but mighty New Year’s blessing.

Hôpital Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins

The second celebration of the day came at Hôpital Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins with the birth of Alexis Rass at 10:18 AM on January 1. Alexis weighs 2.793 kilograms and measures 53.5 centimeters.

Hôpital de Granby

In Granby, Émile Lebreux arrived at 3:30 PM on January 1. Weighing 3.520 kilograms and measuring 50 centimeters, Émile charmed his family as the first newborn of 2025 at the hospital.

CSSS du Granit, Lac-Mégantic

The first baby in Lac-Mégantic was born just before midnight on January 4 at 11:51 PM. The little boy’s name and details are to be celebrated as a local highlight of the New Year.

The CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS oversees several birthing facilities, including Hôpital Fleurimont, Hôpital de Granby, Hôpital Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins, the Granit Mother-Child Unit, and the Maison de naissance de l’Estrie.
