Canadian Party of Quebec outlines priorities ahead of October 5th election

Eastern Townships, September 8th – The Canadian Party of Quebec (CaPQ) is entering the 2026 Quebec election campaign with a focus on protecting individual rights, addressing affordability and improving public services, according to Cynthia Costigan, the party’s Director of Community Outreach.

Costigan said the party is continuing to recruit candidates in several ridings, including Sherbrooke and Saint-François, ahead of the September 17 nomination deadline. She said her responsibilities include community outreach, membership recruitment and helping with the candidate selection process.

Costigan said the CaPQ wants to prioritize minority, Indigenous and linguistic rights, religious freedom and bilingualism. She also criticized Bills 21 and 96, as well as the proposed Quebec Constitution, saying the government should focus more on issues affecting residents’ daily lives.

Housing, health care, affordability and economic growth were among the issues Costigan identified as priorities. She said Quebec needs to encourage housing construction, improve public services and create an environment where businesses can invest and grow.

With the election scheduled for October 5, Costigan encouraged voters to consider smaller parties, arguing that even limited representation can bring different perspectives to the National Assembly.
