Sherbrooke, September 9, 2024 -The annual Phoenix de Sherbrooke Study Fund Golf Tournament, held on September 5, 2024, marked a notable success with its new format. The event, which was fully booked, managed to raise a substantial $67,250 for the Study Fund, continuing its tradition of strong community support.

The Phoenix organization expressed gratitude to the Sherbrooke Golf Club, main sponsors Desjardins and Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, and collaborative partner, the Cégep de Sherbrooke Foundation. Additional thanks were given to various sponsors including Master, Pro, Amateur, Junior, Food, Supplier, and Auction partners, along with 30 dedicated volunteers who contributed to the event’s success. Special recognition was also given to the participants and 24 celebrities who supported the players’ academic endeavors.

In other notable news, the evening cocktail of the tournament also featured the unveiling of the new leadership for the Phoenix hockey team. Head coach Gilles Bouchard announced that Olivier Dubois would serve as the team’s new captain. Supporting him will be assistants Hugo Marcil, Hugo Primeau, Maxime Côté, and Lewis Gendron.

Coach Bouchard highlighted the leadership qualities of the new captain and assistants, emphasizing their role in transmitting the team’s culture to younger players. Olivier Dubois expressed his appreciation for the trust placed in him, stating, “My goal is to make the team better, win games, and uplift my teammates by sharing the Phoenix culture. I’m fortunate to be supported by such strong leaders.”
