Suspicious Fire on Gillespie Street Under Investigation

Sherbrooke, September 5, 2024 – In the early hours of Thursday morning, emergency services were called to 214 Gillespie Street at approximately 4:30 a.m. to respond to a fire. Upon arrival, police and firefighters quickly evacuated the building’s residents. Paramedics were also present as a precaution, but no injuries were reported.

The fire department swiftly contained the blaze, minimizing damage to the property. Authorities have classified the fire as suspicious, and police officers are currently securing the scene.

Later today, investigators, forensic technicians, and a fire inspector will begin an on-site investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
