MONTPELIER, Vermont. July 15th, 2026— Adamant Music School will launch a new downtown concert series later this month with a performance by internationally acclaimed pianist Spencer Myer, who will present Claude Debussy’s complete Préludes, Books I and II.

The free recital is scheduled for Monday, July 20, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel at the Montpelier Performing Arts Hub, located at 36 College Street.

The performance marks the debut of Adamant Music School Presents, a new initiative designed to bring the school’s artistic programming into downtown Montpelier. Founded in 1942, Adamant Music School is the oldest continuously operating summer piano school in the United States and has hosted generations of students, teachers, and professional musicians.

The concert will feature all 24 of Debussy’s Préludes, a landmark work in the piano repertoire. Written in two books of twelve pieces each, the collection draws inspiration from literature, mythology, nature, architecture, theatre and everyday life. Each prelude explores its own musical atmosphere while contributing to a larger cycle celebrated for its range of expression and imagination.

For Myer, the complete Préludes have become one of his signature recital programs. He has performed the work throughout the United States and has appeared as a soloist with orchestras across North America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

The Boston Globe has praised Myer for his “superb playing” and “poised, alert musicianship.” He currently serves as Associate Professor of Piano at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

Organizers say the new concert series will provide audiences in downtown Montpelier with opportunities to hear internationally recognized guest artists while expanding the school’s public programming beyond its traditional summer campus.

Admission to the July 20 recital is free, and no ticket purchase is required.
