The City of Sherbrooke will begin dismantling the summer installations on Wellington North and Frontenac Streets during the week of September 2, 2024. Residents and commuters should be aware of traffic disruptions during this period.

Road Closures and Traffic Updates:

  • Monday, September 2, 6:00 PM – Tuesday, September 3, 5:00 PM: Complete closure of Wellington North Street and the section of Frontenac Street between du Palais and Wellington North.
  • Tuesday, September 3, 5:00 PM – Wednesday, September 4, 5:00 PM: One-way traffic will be maintained.
  • Wednesday, September 4, 5:00 PM: Two-way traffic will resume on Wellington North and Frontenac Streets (between du Palais and Wellington North).

During these works, access to Webster and La Grenouillère parking lots will be via des Grandes-Fourches North Street. Detours will be in place through King West, Belvédère North, and Frontenac Streets, or via Dufferin, Abénaquis, and des Grandes-Fourches North Streets.

For Pedestrians and Cyclists:

Pedestrians and cyclists should use the sidewalks during this time. Cyclists are required to dismount and walk their bikes while on the sidewalks.

Business Accessibility:

All businesses in the area will remain accessible throughout the dismantling process.

Reuse of Installations:

Many of the dismantled elements will be stored and reused in future summer seasons.

Minimizing Traffic Disruptions:

As traffic may be particularly heavy during this back-to-school period, motorists are encouraged to:

  • Plan their trips and leave earlier than usual.
  • Sign up for the MonSherbrooke portal and enable “Work and Operations Near My Address” notifications to receive important traffic updates.
  • Check the interactive map to monitor the progress of the work and traffic conditions at sherbrooke.ca/travaux.
  • Avoid construction zones whenever possible.
  • Use a GPS app to explore alternative routes.
