Sherbrooke, May 2, 2025 – In a heartwarming and inspiring episode of *Reaching Out to the Community*, CJMQ’s Derek Bullard featured a unique interview conducted by three young radio students—Rosie, Jean, and Emma—from École primaire Vision in Sherbrooke. Their guest was none other than the recently re-elected Member of Parliament for Sherbrooke, Minister Élisabeth Brière.

The students posed thoughtful questions, drawing out Minister Brière’s reflections on her childhood, political journey, and daily life as a federal minister. She shared memories of joining her basketball team in Grade 5, emphasized that she has no desire to be Prime Minister due to the demanding nature of the role, and expressed her love for helping people through politics, just as she did in her earlier career as a notary.

The students also asked about her experience working with leaders like Justin Trudeau and Mark Carney, her views on how kids can make a difference, and what motivates her to serve. Brière highlighted her pride in preserving a program that helps vulnerable Canadians file taxes and access government benefits. She also described her passion for outdoor activities like skiing and camping, sharing her love for places such as Newfoundland, Prince Edward County, and British Columbia.

This exchange was not just informative—it was a powerful reminder of how engaged young people can meaningfully participate in democracy. CJMQ 88.9FM applauds Rosie, Jean, and Emma for their excellent work and thanks Minister Brière for her continued dedication to the community.
