Eastern Townships Food Technology Featured in Artemis II Mission Joshua Bullard
Sherbrooke, QC — May 5, 2026 The Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS) is requesting public assistance to identify two suspects involved in a sophisticated shoplifting ring targeting Canac hardware stores across the city and the province.
Investigators have linked the duo to at least two major thefts in Sherbrooke late last March:
March 25: Canac at 1000 Galt St. East.
March 27: Canac at 5711 Bourque Blvd.
In both instances, the suspects used a coordinated “switch” tactic. The pair entered the store separately, each taking their own shopping cart. The male suspect would find a secluded aisle to unbox high-value power tool batteries, hiding the empty packaging on the shelves and placing the batteries into a bag. The accomplices would then swap carts before exiting the store with the stolen goods.
The total value of the stolen batteries is estimated at $2,700. Authorities believe the pair may be responsible for several similar thefts at other Canac locations across various regions.
The SPS has provided the following descriptions of the two individuals:
Suspect 1 (Male):
Age: Approximately 35 years old.
Clothing: Light grey cap with a dark brim, blue pants, black coat, and white sneakers.
Suspect 2 (Female):
Age: Approximately 35 years old.
Clothing: Dark blue hooded sweatshirt or coat, black shoes or ankle boots featuring shiny gold or silver plates.
Distinctive Item: She was carrying a large, shiny black handbag with gold or silver accents.
If you recognize these individuals or have any information regarding these thefts, please contact the Sherbrooke Police Criminal Investigations Division:
