LENNOXVILLE, September 29th 2026 – Lennoxville marked the 35th edition of its annual Giant Pumpkin and Harvest Festival, bringing residents together for an afternoon of giant pumpkins, local vendors, music and community activities.

Three pumpkins were officially weighed during this year’s competition. Steve Young of Waterville took top honours with a 1,321-pound pumpkin. Young, who has grown giant pumpkins as a hobby for nearly a decade, said the process requires extensive preparation, including specialized soil heating and dedicating large garden spaces to individual plants.

The festival also featured a pumpkin weighing 1,154 pounds from Mike Macdonald and another from Cantons de Hatley grower Serge Loubier weighing 824 pounds.

Municipal councillor Claude Sherot said the municipality helped coordinate the event and provided free pumpkin pie to visitors. Local organizations and volunteers also participated, with some groups receiving donations from pumpkin sales.

For many attendees, the festival remains a yearly opportunity to reconnect with friends, family and neighbours. Organizers say they hope to attract more growers and participants in future editions.
