PLQ Candidate Jacqueline Belleau discusses priorities for Saint-François ahead of Quebec election

Saint-François, September 8th – With the Quebec election campaign underway, Quebec Liberal Party candidate Jacqueline Belleau is highlighting housing, health care, community organizations and labour shortages as issues facing residents of Saint-François.

Belleau said the rising cost of housing has increased pressure on families and contributed to challenges for organizations working with vulnerable residents. She expressed support for the Liberal Party’s proposed 40,000 affordable and social housing units and said community organizations should receive more stable operational funding.

On health care, Belleau pointed to long emergency-room waits and limited access to family doctors as concerns for Quebecers. She said the Liberal Party plans to present a broader health-care platform during the campaign and highlighted telehealth as one proposed measure to improve access to health professionals.

Belleau also said businesses in manufacturing, services and agriculture are facing difficulties filling positions. She called for a regional approach to immigration and said temporary foreign workers play an important role in sectors including agriculture, restaurants, factories and health care.

On language issues, Belleau said she wants to protect access to English-language services while maintaining support for the French language and preserving linguistic cooperation in the Eastern Townships.
