Richmond’s First Rodeo Highlights Youth and the Next Generation of Riders

Richmond, September 29th 2026 – The Town of Richmond hosted the inaugural Richmond Rodeo this past weekend, bringing families, vendors, and spectators together for a weekend celebrating Western sports and regional traditions.

Youth participation was a major focus throughout the event. Riders competed in events including barrel racing, while young participants also helped with the rodeo’s operations. Ten-year-old Cody Muise took part in the morning competitions and spoke about his passion for rodeo, which developed through watching his father and family friends.

The event also featured a trade showcase with vendors from across the region. Among them was 15-year-old Dylan Massicotte, who operated the Open Range booth with his mother. The business offers Western apparel, hats, jewelry, and cowhide products, while working to connect members of the equestrian community.

For families attending, the rodeo provided an opportunity to spend time together and reconnect with the community. Organizers say the combination of youth involvement, family attendance, and vendor support could provide a foundation for future editions of the Richmond Rodeo.
