Canadian Party of Quebec (CAPQ) candidate Ngaire Denora outlines her vision for Orford ahead of October 5th election

ORFORD, September 25th 2026 – Canadian Party of Quebec (CAPQ) Orford candidate Ngaire DeNora says cost of living, housing, healthcare and infrastructure are among the key issues she is hearing from residents during the provincial election campaign.

In an interview on Good Morning Townships, DeNora outlined several CAPQ proposals, including lowering provincial income tax rates, increasing the basic personal amount to $23,500 by 2030, and exempting the first $3,500 of eligible overtime income from taxation.

On language rights, DeNora said the party supports maintaining French as Quebec’s dominant language while protecting English-speaking and other minority communities. She cited bilingualism, educational choice and elected school boards among the party’s positions.

The CAPQ’s housing platform uses 68,000 annual housing starts as a planning target, with at least 20 percent of units in qualifying projects proposed as affordable rentals.

On healthcare, DeNora highlighted faster credential recognition, supervised practice, increased training capacity and interdisciplinary primary-care teams.

DeNora also said she supports community journalism, but acknowledged the CAPQ does not currently have specific commitments regarding increasing government advertising spending or updating the PAMAC funding program.
