SHERBROOKE, November 5, 2025 — Drivers in downtown Sherbrooke will soon experience a new, easier way to pay for parking. The City has begun installing modern contactless parking terminals, which will officially come into service on November 10.
The change is part of Sherbrooke’s effort to simplify parking procedures and modernize existing infrastructure. During the transition week, downtown parking will be free of charge while the new system is activated.
Blinkay App to Replace bciti+
The new system will use the Blinkay app, which replaces the previous bciti+ service. The same app had already been discontinued in Magog earlier this year.
Sherbrooke residents who still have a prepaid balance in their bciti+ accounts have until February 13, 2026 to request a refund. After that date, any unclaimed amounts will be donated to Centraide Estrie.
How It Works
With the new Blinkay system, drivers will no longer need a parking space number. Instead, they will simply enter their license plate number when paying, either directly at the terminal or through the Blinkay mobile app.
Parking rates will remain the same, though signage may vary depending on location. For those who prefer not to use the app, payments can also be made through a dedicated Blinkay website.
A Step Toward Modernization
City officials say the update reflects Sherbrooke’s ongoing commitment to creating a more accessible, modern, and user-friendly downtown. The new terminals are expected to reduce maintenance needs while offering a faster, more convenient experience for drivers.
