Shebrooke, February 17, 2025 – Sherbrooke is set to become home to an exciting new pickleball facility, Tandem Pickleball, designed to be more than just a place to play—it will be a community hub for fitness, fun, and social connection. In the latest episode of Reaching Out to the Community, Derek Bullard spoke with entrepreneur Marilyn Gagné about her ambitious vision for the project.
Gagné, known for successfully expanding businesses across Canada, discovered pickleball just three years ago. Instantly drawn to the sport’s accessibility and social appeal, she saw an opportunity to create a dedicated facility that could serve both recreational and competitive players. The facility will feature state-of-the-art courts, a coffee lounge, bar, and event spaces, making it a welcoming space for all ages.
With a $5 million investment and annual operating costs of $1.2 million, the project is a major undertaking. However, Gagné and her team, including former Team Canada alpine skier Mathieu Routhier, are confident that their well-researched financial model will ensure sustainability. The plan is to host leagues, tournaments, and social events while nurturing future athletes who could compete at national and even Olympic levels.
Set to open by the end of summer 2025, this facility will not only grow the sport locally but could serve as a model for expansion across Canada.
