Sherbrooke, December 12, 2024 – Nearly two years after a devastating explosion at the Centre de valorisation des aliments (CVA) on March 23, 2022, the Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS) has submitted its investigation report to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP). The explosion, which occurred at 6343 Boulevard Bourque, destroyed the business and left five people injured.

The investigation, conducted in close collaboration with the DPCP, involved interviews with approximately 30 witnesses and numerous expert analyses. New evidence has been uncovered, prompting the SPS Criminal Investigations Division to recommend potential criminal charges.

Out of respect for the judicial process, the SPS has refrained from sharing specific details of the case. Further updates will depend on the DPCP’s review and decision regarding charges.

This marks a significant step forward in seeking accountability for the incident, which deeply impacted the Sherbrooke community.
