Sherbrooke, November 25, 2024 – This morning, around 8 a.m., police were called to assist security guards at CHUS Hôtel-Dieu after reports of a patient threatening them with a knife while being expelled from the emergency department.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that the suspect had moved to the parking lot and remained aggressive. As police approached, the 26-year-old man fled on foot along Bowen South Street.
A foot chase ensued, and officers successfully apprehended the suspect behind a residence on Bowen Sud Street. The knife involved in the incident was recovered.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The suspect, who is known to law enforcement, remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today to face charges of armed assault, threats, and assault.
