Opera Singer Caroline Gélinas Aims to Bring an Intimate Musical Evening to Bishop’s University

LENNOXVILLE, October 26th 2026 – Canadian mezzo-soprano Caroline Gélinas will take the stage at Bishop’s University’s Bandeen Hall on October 29, offering audiences an intimate evening of opera arias, German lieder, and French melodies.

Speaking with Good Morning Townships, Gélinas reflected on her journey into opera, which began with childhood exposure to classical music through her parents and Radio-Canada. Her career gained momentum after joining the Opéra de Montréal’s Young Artist Program and receiving recognition from Radio-Canada around 2015.

Gélinas described the upcoming performance as a “fireworks concert,” promising an energetic and accessible program alongside her pianist, Anson. The concert will also provide an opportunity for audiences to experience opera in a smaller, more personal setting.

Following the performance, Gélinas will lead a masterclass with Bishop’s University students on October 30, focusing on vocal technique, interpretation, and theatrical expression.

Drawing from her experiences performing across Canada and internationally, she hopes to encourage aspiring musicians to remain persistent.

Her advice to young artists is simple: trust their intuition, surround themselves with supportive people, and never give up on their artistic ambitions.
