Sherbrooke, November 25, 2024 – Between Friday evening and Monday morning, the Sherbrooke Police Department responded to several significant incidents:
Around midnight, police received a call reporting that an individual was driving around pointing a firearm at motorists near the intersection of Galt West and Belvédère South streets.
Witnesses provided a detailed description of the suspect’s vehicle, its occupants, and the weapon. Police quickly located the vehicle on Queen Street and conducted a high-risk operation. Five men, aged 16 to 20, were detained. A replica firearm was seized for analysis. All five suspects were released pending further legal proceedings.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. Sunday, officers patrolling downtown witnessed a disturbance outside 66 Meadows Street. A 26-year-old woman, identified as the instigator, was detained for municipal noise violations.
The suspect resisted arrest and, while being placed in a patrol car, kicked an officer in the face. The officer sustained minor injuries. The woman was released and will face charges of assaulting a peace officer in court.
Around 5 p.m., a resident on Vincent Street contacted police after noticing anomalies upon returning home. She later saw a figure inside the house and called police again.
Officers arrived, secured the premises, and discovered a 37-year-old man hiding in a bedroom. The suspect, already wanted on a warrant, was arrested and remains in custody. He is expected to face charges of breaking and entering, theft, and mischief under $5,000.
