Sherbrooke, November 25, 2024 – An investigation is underway after a father reported finding a razor blade in a bag of candy distributed during the Santa Claus Parade in Sherbrooke.

The complainant was with his two children at the intersection of King East Street and 14th Avenue when they received two candy bags from two women described as white and in their fifties. Upon inspecting the candy, the father discovered a razor blade concealed among the treats in one of the bags.

The razor blade has been seized by police for analysis, and an investigation is ongoing to identify those responsible.

The Santa Claus Parade, a cherished annual tradition in Sherbrooke, took place on November 24, 2024. During the event, a spectator alerted police to a possible sharp object found in a candy bag handed to a child. The report prompted an immediate response from the 30 police officers present to manage the event.

Police Advisory to the Public

Attendees who received candy bags from two women matching the description are urged to inspect the contents of their bags carefully. The women, who were not part of the official parade, were reportedly seen in the crowd near King East Street and 14th Avenue, carrying candy in a yellow and red reusable bag.

Anyone who received a candy bag with a sharp object or who has information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Sherbrooke Police Department.
