Sherbrooke, August 21 – Yesterday, around 2:30 PM, a tenant of an apartment building on Adélard-Colette Street called the police to report that her neighbor was in crisis and had allegedly threatened to kill her.

A police officer was dispatched to meet with the woman and gather more information about the events. The tenant confirmed that she had received death threats from a neighbor in the building. The neighbor had also reportedly mistreated his dog.

Soon after, other patrol officers, accompanied by the EMIP unit (Équipe Mixte Intervention Psychosociale), arrived to assist and make contact with the suspect. The man had barricaded himself in his apartment and refused to cooperate with the officers. The intervention team had to be called to take over the situation.

Finally, around 7:00 PM, the intervention team members proceeded to arrest the suspect. The criminal investigations division, paramedics, and animal protection officers also took part in the intervention.

The 63-year-old man is currently in custody, facing charges of making death threats and criminal negligence towards an animal.
