Invasive freshwater jellyfish discovered in Eastern Townships lakes

Freshwater jellyfish have been discovered in lakes across the Eastern Townships, raising concerns about their ecological impact.

David O’Connor, Environmental Project Manager at the Conseil Régional de l’Environnement de l’Estrie, explains that community reports, were key in identifying these invasive species.

O’Conner discusses the potential risks posed by the jellyfish, including disruptions to the local food web due to their filter-feeding habits.
