Parti libéral du Québec candidate Pierre Cossette outlines his vision for Sherbrooke ahead of October 5th

SHERBROOKE, September 11th – Parti libéral du Québec candidate Pierre Cossette discussed healthcare, economic development, housing, homelessness and language during an interview on Good Morning Townships ahead of the October 5 election.

Cossette, a physician and former rector of the Université de Sherbrooke, said voters have raised a range of concerns during the campaign, including healthcare access, education, sustainable development and difficulties faced by businesses in hiring and retaining workers.

On healthcare, Cossette said he would focus on improving access while avoiding another major structural reform of the health system. He argued that managers should spend more time addressing issues on the ground and emphasized collaboration among doctors, nurses, administrators and other professionals.

Cossette also called for greater support for businesses facing economic uncertainty, including assistance with cash flow and efforts to develop new export markets. He proposed stronger collaboration between regional universities, colleges and businesses to increase research and innovation.

On language, Cossette said French should be promoted while respecting Quebec’s English-speaking communities. He pointed to Sherbrooke and the Eastern Townships as examples of French- and English-speaking communities working together.

He said his experience in healthcare, higher education and university administration would inform his approach as an MNA.
