Parti Québécois candidate Gabriel Pallotta, lays out his vision for Sherbrooke ahead of October 5

SHERBROOKE, September 11th – Parti Québécois candidate Gabriel Pallotta discussed homelessness, healthcare, housing, the future of Quebec, education and the economy during an interview on Good Morning Townships.

Pallotta, who has worked in the homelessness sector, said the province needs to address the factors that push people into homelessness, including poverty and gaps in financial assistance. He said a PQ government would seek to modernize related legislation while continuing to support organizations helping people experiencing homelessness.

On healthcare, Pallotta said the PQ’s proposed changes would decentralize decision-making and give more authority to local and regional services. He argued that local institutions would be better positioned to respond to the specific needs of their communities.

Pallotta also addressed language rights, saying the party’s proposed changes to bilingual institutional status would not affect Sherbrooke’s established English-speaking community.

Regarding tariffs, he called for targeted assistance for affected businesses, incentives to develop new export markets and the return of Quebec’s share of tariff revenues.

Pallotta identified housing, cost of living, education and healthcare access as key concerns he is hearing from Sherbrooke voters during the campaign.
