Sherbrooke, August 9, 2025 – The Société de protection des forêts contre le feu (SOPFEU) is warning residents of an elevated risk of forest fires across the region.
Recent hot temperatures combined with a lack of rainfall have created conditions where fires can start and spread quickly. SOPFEU reports that most forest fires are caused by human activity and is urging the public to take extra precautions, particularly near wooded areas.
If the dry weather continues, the fire danger index could reach an even higher alert level in the coming days.
