OCTOBER 20TH, Mont-Mégantic – The Orchestre symphonique de Sherbrooke (OSS) is preparing an extraordinary musical experience on November 7, combining classical music with spectacular astronomical projections.
During an interview with CJMQ 88.9 FM’s Good Morning Townships, music director and conductor Jean-Michel Malouf discussed the upcoming performance of The Planets of Holst, presented in collaboration with the ASTROLab at Mont-mégantic.
The ambitious production will feature more than 80 musicians, accompanied by synchronized astronomical imagery designed to immerse audiences in a cosmic journey.
Malouf explained that the collaboration has been envisioned for several years and represents one of the orchestra’s largest productions under his leadership.
The concert will also feature Love Unfolding, composed by Sherbrooke’s Andrew MacDonald, before transitioning into the multimedia experience.
Beyond this performance, Malouf emphasized the orchestra’s commitment to making classical music accessible through community collaborations and its popular 5 à 7 concert series.
Encouraging newcomers to attend, Malouf stressed that orchestral performances are welcoming experiences without formal dress requirements.
The November 7 concert promises to unite music, science, and community while introducing audiences to the orchestra’s artistic vision and its expanding cultural presence.
