SHERBROOKE, QC | May 2, 2026 – Marianne Dandurand, Member of Parliament for Compton–Stanstead, officially opened her new constituency office, marking a milestone in her first year of federal service. The new space is designed to bridge the gap between Ottawa and the Eastern Townships, providing residents with streamlined access to federal programs and direct advocacy.

The opening served as a dual-purpose event, allowing MP Dandurand to review a first year in office defined by rural advocacy and economic defense.

High-Speed Advocacy and Economic Support Over the past twelve months, Dandurand has prioritized cellular connectivity and labor stability. Key highlights from the first year include:

  • Rural Connectivity: The introduction of a House of Commons bill specifically aimed at eliminating “dead zones” in rural cellular coverage—a move Dandurand calls a matter of “public safety and fairness.”

  • Workforce Solutions: Direct collaboration with local manufacturers to navigate U.S. tariffs and address chronic labor shortages.

  • English-Speaking Community Support: The launch of a federally funded employment assistance service delivered via the Townshippers’ Association, specifically designed to reduce barriers for the linguistic minority in the regional workforce.

“The conversations I’ve had across this riding have truly moved the needle on regional priorities,” Dandurand stated. “From cellular networks to federal procurement for local suppliers, we are ensuring Compton–Stanstead has a seat at the table.”

Direct Impact by the Numbers Beyond policy, the MP’s team has already provided personalized support to over 300 residents, assisting them in navigating the complexities of federal agencies, immigration files, and veteran services.

Looking Ahead: The Rural Agenda As the Chair of the Liberal Rural Caucus, Dandurand’s upcoming mandate focuses on three pillars:

  1. Agriculture: Ensuring the sector remains robust and supported.

  2. Labor: Maintaining reliable access to temporary foreign workers for local businesses.

  3. Infrastructure: Continuing the push for universal cellular and high-speed internet.

An Office for the Community Located to serve the heart of the riding, the new office is now fully operational. MP Dandurand emphasizes that the space is intended to be a “welcoming, service-oriented hub” where all residents can seek information or personalized assistance with government services.
