Sherbrooke, October 13, 2025 – Emergency services were called around 1:30 p.m. today after a collision between an electric bicycle and a pedestrian in Sherbrooke. Police, firefighters, and paramedics quickly arrived at the scene to assist both victims.

According to preliminary information, the cyclist, a 55-year-old man, was travelling at high speed when he struck a 70-year-old woman walking on the pedestrian bridge at the intersection of rue de la Glacière and rue Esplanade.

The cyclist went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to hospital, where authorities say his life is in danger. The pedestrian sustained minor injuries and was treated on site by paramedics.

Police have secured the area and launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. All possible hypotheses are currently being examined.

The pedestrian bridge crossing Lac des Nations, between the Times Hotel and rue Esplanade, remains closed to the public until further notice.
