Sherbrooke, October 15, 2024 – In the early hours of October 1st, around 1:50 AM, a suspect broke into Pavilion 1 of the Cégep de Sherbrooke, located at 375 Rue du Cégep. The suspect stole approximately $4,200 worth of tools, jewelry, and laptops while also causing damage to the property.

The police quickly responded to a report on October 1st, and the case was handed over to the Criminal Investigations Division. With assistance from the Cégep’s security department, investigators reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect.

Following information exchanges between investigators and patrol officers, the identity of the suspect was confirmed. On Monday afternoon, patrol officers spotted the 38-year-old man walking on Rue Conseil and arrested him. He faces charges of breaking and entering, theft, and violation of conditions. The suspect was taken to the police station and interviewed by investigators. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
