Festival des Traditions du Monde celebrates 29th edition in Sherbrooke

FLEURIMONT, August 13th 2026 — The Festival des Traditions du Monde is bringing music, food and cultures from around the world to Sherbrooke for its 29th edition, running from August 12 to 16.

Thousands of visitors are expected to attend the five-day event, which transforms the festival grounds into a multicultural village featuring performances, food vendors and merchants.

Operations manager Jean-Chal Doillon says organizers began preparing the site on July 18, turning a parking lot into a fully functioning festival village. This year’s attractions include 18 food booths, an Irish Pub, a Latino Pub and the returning Latino Chapiteau.

Among the participating merchants is La Grotte de Colette, adding to the festival’s international marketplace.

Music remains a central part of the event. Sergiu Popa, leader of Tehrani Drome, is performing with musicians from Iran, Kurdistan, Azerbaijan, Switzerland and Moldova. The band combines Middle Eastern and Balkan influences.

Popa says their goal is to use music to promote peace, love and cultural understanding while encouraging audiences to discover different musical traditions.

The festival will return next year for its 30th anniversary.
