Sherbrooke, January 27, 2025 – The City of Sherbrooke has launched an innovative pilot project called Les Sentinelles de Sherbrooke, aimed at improving the sense of security and well-being among residents. This initiative establishes a network of safe havens in participating businesses and organizations downtown, providing a refuge for anyone feeling unsafe.

These safe spaces are easily recognizable by stickers displayed on the storefronts of participating locations. Trained staff at these establishments are ready to provide immediate support when needed. So far, eight local businesses and organizations have joined the network.

This project is part of Sherbrooke’s inclusive and community-focused development plan. It addresses concerns raised in a municipal survey conducted last summer, which highlighted the importance of strengthening the public’s sense of security.

For more information or to join the Sentinelles network, visit sherbrooke.ca/sentinelles.

Through Les Sentinelles de Sherbrooke, the city aims to foster an environment where every resident feels supported and secure, turning downtown into a hub of solidarity and mutual aid.
