Sherbrooke, Monday, March 17, 2025 – The Municipal Civil Security Organization (OMSC) of Sherbrooke continues to monitor the rising water levels of the Saint-François River, which has now reached 19 feet, the official mobilization threshold.

With unseasonably warm temperatures, rapid snowmelt, and ongoing rainfall, authorities warn that water levels may continue to rise. Officials are also closely monitoring ice movement and potential ice jams, which could exacerbate flooding risks.

The City of Sherbrooke remains fully mobilized, tracking developments on an hourly basis. Residents are encouraged to stay informed by signing up for the MonSherbrooke portal (monsherbrooke.ca) and visiting sherbrooke.ca/inondation for real-time updates.

Road Closures & Traffic Disruptions

Due to rising waters, the following roads and access points have been closed:

  • Ramp closure from Grandes-Fourches Sud to Galt Ouest and Joffre Bridge
    • The municipal garage on Grandes-Fourches Sud is also closed.
  • Ramp closure to Chemin Glenday
    • Drivers can access Highway 410 via Route 108.
  • Complete closures:
    • Little Fork Street
    • Reed Street

Flood Preparedness Tips

Authorities urge residents living near the river to take precautionary measures:

  • Secure all outdoor belongings that could be carried away by floodwaters.
  • Move valuable items from basements to upper floors to prevent water damage.
  • Ensure you have an emergency kit with essential supplies, including first-aid materials, food, water, and necessary documents.
  • Stay updated on the latest news and follow any evacuation orders issued by the City of Sherbrooke.

With uncertain weather conditions ahead, residents are advised to remain vigilant and prepared for any further developments.
