Friday, November 8, 2024 – Estrie residents without a family doctor now have a new healthcare resource with the opening of the first specialized nurse practitioner (IPS) clinic in Sherbrooke. Since October 15, this clinic, located at 50 Camirand Street, provides timely access to healthcare, addressing a critical need in the region.
A New Path to Healthcare Access
The clinic was highly anticipated as it offers an additional route for health services, especially for those without regular medical follow-up. Patricia Bourgault, Director of Nursing, emphasizes the clinic’s role in supporting the health needs of young and old alike with advanced nursing and medical expertise. Annie Boisvert, Associate Director for General and Specialized Physical Health, highlights this clinic as a milestone in making healthcare more accessible to the community.
Educational Collaboration
In collaboration with the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS and the Université de Sherbrooke, this clinic also supports the practical training of future nurse practitioners.
Services Offered
At the clinic, specialized nurse practitioners provide comprehensive health assessments, diagnosis, independent prescription, and preventive health measures, with referrals to specialists if necessary.
