Rock Forest Water Tower Illumination Project Wins 2026 Public Choice Award

Rock Forest–Saint-Élie–Deauville, April 24, 2026 — Eric Gauthier, Commercial Revitalization Advisor for Sherbrooke’s Rock Forest–Deauville sector, says an illumination project helped renew interest in a commercial corridor impacted by major roadwork along Boulevard Bourque, which had reduced traffic and limited access to the area.

The initiative transformed a local water tower into a projection surface featuring seasonal displays aimed at attracting residents and increasing foot traffic. Gauthier says the project drew close to 20,000 attendees and generated significant online engagement, with public reactions highlighting a renewed sense of community pride.

Backed by approximately 20 local businesses, the project reflected a shared effort to support economic recovery. Gauthier credits its People’s Choice Award to its visual impact and broad appeal, while future plans include filling vacant spaces and strengthening services to sustain growth.
