Joe Cianflone’s Canadian Party of Quebec outlines priorities ahead of October election

SHERBROOKE, September 11th – Canadian Party of Quebec leader Joe Cianflone outlined his party’s priorities during an interview on Good Morning Townships, focusing on democracy, individual rights, economic prosperity and public services.

Cianflone said the party wants to move Quebec’s political discussion away from identity-based divisions and toward issues such as healthcare, housing, taxation and economic opportunity.

Language policy was also discussed. Cianflone said protecting French as Quebec’s official language is important, while arguing that other languages, including English, should also be viewed as cultural and economic assets. He criticized aspects of Quebec’s current approach to language rights, including Bill 96.

On the economy, Cianflone said the party would support measures aimed at increasing investment and entrepreneurship. Its platform includes proposals concerning housing, healthcare reform and taxation, including an increase to the basic personal exemption.

Cianflone also addressed trade tensions with the United States, arguing that Quebec should maintain strong economic relationships within Canada and North America while avoiding measures that could increase costs for consumers and businesses.

Founded in 2022, the Canadian Party of Quebec is entering the October 5 provincial election alongside Quebec’s established political parties. Cianflone described the party as federalist and said it wants greater debate around provincial policy and public institutions.
