SHERBROOKE, September 16th – Fadéla Hamou, the Coalition Avenir Québec candidate in Sherbrooke in the Richmond riding, discussed housing, healthcare, the economy and relations between Quebec’s linguistic communities during an interview on Good Morning Townships.
Hamou said her campaign has focused on meeting residents, community organizations and local businesses to hear about their concerns. She identified the cost of living, housing, homelessness, healthcare and economic uncertainty as issues she has encountered while speaking with people in the riding.
On housing and homelessness, Hamou said more affordable housing is needed, along with earlier intervention to prevent people from losing their homes. She also said people experiencing homelessness need access to support services, including mental-health, addiction and community resources.
Regarding the economy, Hamou said businesses and workers need stability amid uncertainty surrounding trade with the United States. She said supporting local businesses and protecting Quebec jobs would be priorities.
Hamou also addressed Sherbrooke’s French- and English-speaking communities, saying French should remain Quebec’s common language while English-speaking residents should feel respected and represented.
On healthcare, she emphasized improving access to frontline care, reducing pressure on emergency departments and strengthening mental-health services.
