Quebec Community Newspapers Association (QCNA) Community Media Networking Event

The Quebec Community Newspapers Association (QCNA) will host a community media networking event and job fair on June 12 at the Château Cartier Hotel in Gatineau, bringing together students, aspiring journalists, media professionals and members of the public interested in the industry.

The event, titled Your Career in Community Media, is free to attend and will also be livestreamed for participants unable to attend in person. Organizers say the goal is to connect people interested in media with professionals currently working in community journalism and communications.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet publishers, editors, reporters, designers and advertising professionals, while also taking part in networking activities and industry discussions. Participants are encouraged to bring résumés and questions about careers in local media.

According to promotional material released for the event, the fair is aimed at students, recent graduates and anyone exploring opportunities in journalism, communications or community media. Organizers also plan to offer career advice, networking opportunities and prizes throughout the event.

The event is presented by QCNA and AJRQ in partnership with YES Employment & Entrepreneurship. Funding support is provided by the Government of Canada through the Official Languages Minority Communities Program.
