Sherbrooke, October 15, 2024 – The Sherbrooke police were busy handling various incidents and scheduled operations over the long weekend. Below is a summary of the calls and events managed by the officers:

  • Two arrests for impaired driving due to alcohol
  • Around ten accidents with minor injuries or material damage
  • Ten arrests or processing of individuals wanted under arrest warrants
  • Fifteen calls regarding suspicious individuals or behaviors reported by citizens
  • Twenty noise complaints
  • Twenty-two assists provided to partners such as ambulance services, fire departments, CLSCs, and hospitals
  • Thirty calls related to disturbances, assaults, and domestic violence
  • Sixty-one public assists or follow-up verifications after citizen reports

A total of twelve individuals were admitted to the police station’s holding cells, with some released and others detained for court appearances over the weekend.

Planned Operation:

On Saturday night, an “Octoberfest” event was held at the fairgrounds on Plateau Saint-Joseph. Additional police officers were deployed to ensure laws and regulations were respected. Numerous traffic stops were made, and police maintained order in nearby streets. No arrests for impaired driving were made, and the event went smoothly overall.

Speed Control Operations:

From Friday to Monday, patrol officers intensified radar speed control operations due to the long weekend. About twenty radar operations took place, resulting in 83 speeding tickets issued across the region.
